Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing and healing form of bodywork that aims to harmonize underlying imbalances in the client's energetic and physical bodies and strengthen their ability to self-heal. Shiatsu shares the same range of benefits as acupuncture but is applied using touch instead of needles. The practice of Zen Shiatsu specifically incorporates abdominal palpation, the stretching and rotation of the limbs, and the use of balanced pressure along energetic pathways (meridians). The practitioner works within a meditative state, focusing on the responses of the recipient so as to properly direct the therapy. The benefits of Shiatsu range from deep relaxation and relief from acute discomfort to relief from a wide range of chronic conditions. The recipient is fully-clothed in this treatment and it is recommended that they wear loose-fitting and comfortable clothing.
